How to Put the Law of Attraction into Action
March 29, 2010 – 7:11 pmLife is exhilarating these days. Not only has my book, 7 Secrets Every Woman Should Know: How to Create a Joy-Filled Life been published and selling very well, but I’m also in my fourth month of PREGNANCY!
My hubby and I are thrilled as this will be the first grandchild on both sides of our families. As I sit in the guest bedroom writing this post, my eyes are frequently drawn to the two vision boards on the back of the room door. With the door closed, the collages are fully displayed.
Among the magazine cut outs, I see a beautiful African-American couple. The woman is pregnant with one hand across her stomach with her husband by her side. Then my eyes are drawn to a picture of a woman with locks. Her mouth is agape with a wide smile from the joy she’s receiving from cuddling her baby.
These are a few images you’ll find on my vision boards. I created the boards because I know the power images have on our conscious and subconscious minds. In essence, I’m actively using the Law of Attraction to co-create my reality.
The Law of Attraction basically states, like attracts like. According to author and coach Anita Wheeler, the Law of Attraction is defined as attracting in our life what ever we give our energy, focus, and attention to, whether positive or negative.
I know many of you probably heard about the Law of Attraction through the movie, The Secret or through the book by the same title. Well, the Law of Attraction has been around a lot longer than the creation of The Secret. If you haven’t seen the film or read the book, I highly recommend you take time to view it.
As I listened to Anita Wheeler’s free Law of Attraction download she reminded listeners that energy flows where attention goes and outlined 10 steps to using the Law of Attraction more effectively. Here is a synopsis of her podcast.
1. Applying the Law of Attraction is a “process.” It takes awareness to recognize the connection between our thoughts and what we are attracting. Look for synchronistic events and happenings in your life. This is evidence of the law.
2. What you attract matches your vibration. Our vibration is determined by feelings or our mood. We’re either vibrating positively or negatively. If you are in a negative space, learn how to quickly as possible “reset” your vibration.
3. The Law of Attraction is obedient to your vibration. So if you are feeling gloomy, learn how to quickly as possible “reset” your vibration. You can do this by writing down what you brings you joy or what makes you happy and focusing your attention on that. From my experience however, you must also be willing to face issues squarely so that you can work through them.
4. Be aware of what you’re vibrating. Tuning into your feelings should alert you to the quality of your thoughts. By observing the stories we tell ourselves, we can change the story we tell at anytime and act according to the new story.
5. Changing your words, changes your thoughts. Your thoughts influence your vibration. And your vibration affects the results of your actions.
6. Know what makes you feel good. Here is where making the list comes in handy. Think about all the simple pleasures as well as the non-material joys that you can create or re-create easily and quickly.
7. Eliminate three words from your vocabulary: Don’t, Not, and No. Instead, speak affirmatively about what you do want. Instead of saying “Don’t slam the door,” say “Close the door gently.”
8. Know what you want. Sometimes it’s easier to talk about what we don’t want because, we’re not clear about what we do want. It’s time to get clear about your desires and put your attention and focus on executing your passions.
9. Once you are clear about what you want, focus your energy and attention in that area. You have to be persistent and consistent because life happens. And it’s so easy to forget that we’re supposed to be focusing our positive attention in a particular direction. Being intentional is key due to our propensity to slip in and out of awareness.
10. Allow your good to flow to you. This requires you to believe that you deserve to have any good you desire. Your beliefs about what you can do, be, or have will become apparent through your resistants. Once you gain clarity and are being intentional about your focus and actions, belief in yourself and the process will open the way for opportunity.
Let’s continue to use the Law of Attraction to our advantage and not let it fade from our awareness just because it is no longer in the forefront of mass media consciousness.
Pray, Persist, and Prosper!
